“Tonight we’ll take a trip to the weird and the wonderful.  Playing will be Mayfield Strings, whose members perform in the Akron Symphony, the Cleveland Pops, the Erie Philharmonic, and the Ohio Philharmonic Orchestra… Mayfield member Tara Hanish has performed with Kanye West, The Foo Fighters, Smokey Robinson, and on The Grammys!”

[Then yours truly], A one-woman choir, Uno Lady creates soundscapes built from melodic loops. Her innovation and good-humored music recently earned her a Creative Workforce Fellowship. If you’re delighted by the possibilities of melody, don’t miss these forward-thinking performances!”

Katherine, of Maximum Consumption [and good friend of Christa Ebert] will be providing DJ services (Be sure to catch Katherine every Tuesday on 91.1FM WRUW from 5:00 – 7:00pm.)

About the event:

Throughout summer 2014, Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), Case Western Reserve University, and Cleveland Institute of Art present an innovative series of Thursday night events on Toby’s Plaza that feature live music curated by Beachland Ballroom, food trucks, and interactive art experiences.

Before the music begins on three select Thursdays, MOCA invites communities to participate in a creative social action. These activities will honor the spirit of artist Corita Kent in both creativity and message.

Dancing with Oliver’s fancy puppet

I met Oliver in 2011 at what was Zeller Gallery (Now Gallery One Sixty)  for the show GIRLS! GIRLS! GIRLS! There was awesome art by my friends, Angela Oster and Marlee Pickles. Oliver makes these amazing puppets. It was lovely and is always a good time when the Burger Boys play.2011 flyer

Uno Lady @ Gallery One Sixty for Corpo nel Moto, photos by Steve Vaccariello

First Friday of the month means WALK ALL OVER WATERLOO! Come join me in Collinwood for a special Uno Lady performance at Gallery One Sixty. Corpo nel Moto, dance photography by Steve Vaccariello.

g160_8602652814152584168_nFriday, May 2, doors @6pm, music @ 10
Gallery One Sixty
16008 Waterloo Rd. CLE 44110

ABOUT THE ARTIST: Vaccariello’s vivid and sensual photography capture the unexpected in his subjects. It’s the moment most often overlooked that Vaccariello interprets and immortalizes on film. With suggestive lighting, evocative shadowing and unique printing techniques, his work explores the idea of ethereal and evocative beauty, the nuances of form, and the subtleties and extremes of physical expression. “I’m a purist at heart – camera, light and composition – striving for that look of unique, but timeless beauty.”

ABOUT THIS SHOW:“I have had the pleasure of photographing dancers for over 25 years. Dance is the nexus of athleticism and grace, their bodies the medium through which they soulfully express themselves to the world. Their creativity is boundless; they bring something to my set that no other subject can! My camera captures only an instant of the artistry they exude.

Another thing to check out on the same lot!

locls of love112448_nLOCKS of love, from Waterloo”
WHEN: Friday, May 2nd from 6-8pm during “Walk All Over Waterloo”
WHERE: Zaller Fence (in front of the Waterloo Sculpture Garden at E160th and Waterloo Road). Free parking in the new lot next to the fence
WHAT:  Bring a painted or engraved lock of your own creation and attach it to the fence

The “LOCKS of Love, from Waterloo” re-opening is a free public event to be held at the community-based, interactive art installation’s new home at the Zaller Fence at E160th Street and Waterloo Road in the Waterloo Arts District in North Collinwood. The notion of attaching locks to a structure mimics a project started in Paris where lovers come to place locks on the Arts Bridge, symbolizing a permanent connection. It has been replicated around the world, but never in Cleveland.
