Dancing with Oliver’s fancy puppet

I met Oliver in 2011 at what was Zeller Gallery (Now Gallery One Sixty)  for the show GIRLS! GIRLS! GIRLS! There was awesome art by my friends, Angela Oster and Marlee Pickles. Oliver makes these amazing puppets. It was lovely and is always a good time when the Burger Boys play.2011 flyer

This Saturday July 26th, I’ll be playing music at Oliver App’s solo show, Closer. It is an earlier show so you can expand your fun Saturday night and pregame with me. I’ll be going on at 7:30 pm.

Ps. there will be cookies.

The show is part of M.A.D. ART WALK- (Madison Arts District) which takes place at from 1pm-6pm (between Morrison Ave. & McKinley) on Madison. Facebook event page

Time to kill?

I typically don’t suggest 10 minute youtube pedal demos, but this one is painfully hilarious…. like sketch comedy but not intentionally.  If you listen closely,  the lyrics are intense. I could do without the fake Avril Levin, but the other cast of characters has me cracking up.

Enjoy.

Uno Lady @ Gallery One Sixty for Corpo nel Moto, photos by Steve Vaccariello

First Friday of the month means WALK ALL OVER WATERLOO! Come join me in Collinwood for a special Uno Lady performance at Gallery One Sixty. Corpo nel Moto, dance photography by Steve Vaccariello.

g160_8602652814152584168_nFriday, May 2, doors @6pm, music @ 10
Gallery One Sixty
16008 Waterloo Rd. CLE 44110

ABOUT THE ARTIST: Vaccariello’s vivid and sensual photography capture the unexpected in his subjects. It’s the moment most often overlooked that Vaccariello interprets and immortalizes on film. With suggestive lighting, evocative shadowing and unique printing techniques, his work explores the idea of ethereal and evocative beauty, the nuances of form, and the subtleties and extremes of physical expression. “I’m a purist at heart – camera, light and composition – striving for that look of unique, but timeless beauty.”

ABOUT THIS SHOW:“I have had the pleasure of photographing dancers for over 25 years. Dance is the nexus of athleticism and grace, their bodies the medium through which they soulfully express themselves to the world. Their creativity is boundless; they bring something to my set that no other subject can! My camera captures only an instant of the artistry they exude.

Another thing to check out on the same lot!

WHEN: Friday, May 2nd from 6-8pm during “Walk All Over Waterloo”
WHERE: Zaller Fence (in front of the Waterloo Sculpture Garden at E160th and Waterloo Road). Free parking in the new lot next to the fence
WHAT:  Bring a painted or engraved lock of your own creation and attach it to the fence

The “LOCKS of Love, from Waterloo” re-opening is a free public event to be held at the community-based, interactive art installation’s new home at the Zaller Fence at E160th Street and Waterloo Road in the Waterloo Arts District in North Collinwood. The notion of attaching locks to a structure mimics a project started in Paris where lovers come to place locks on the Arts Bridge, symbolizing a permanent connection. It has been replicated around the world, but never in Cleveland.

Creative Workforce Fellowship

I am ecstatic and honored to announce that I was named one of the twenty 2014 Creative Workforce Fellows! The Creative Workforce Fellowship is a program of the Community Partnership for Arts and Culture (CPAC). The Fellowship program is supported by the residents of Cuyahoga County through a public grant from Cuyahoga Arts & Culture(CAC).

Many have inquired about my plan and so I decided to share my submission. In an effort to be transparent, below is a link to my application. I’m also sharing this in hopes to encourage others to apply and expand awareness that public funding exists.
Get it!

You can view all 3 parts of my application here: http://tinyurl.com/unolady

With the fund I plan on:  1) increasing capacity,   2) developing my knowledge, and   3) expanding marketing efforts.

Expansion and evolution are this year’s themes.  I look forward to spending time creating cacophonic concoctions, testing my limits, and buying sweet stuff.  All jokes aside, it is important to me that I use these funds to support my community and fellow artists.  Within my application I pledged to spend 90% of the fellowship funds within Cuyahoga County: I am a lady of my word.

I would like to give a heartfelt thanks to CPAC and CAC for providing such an amazing opportunity to Cuyahoga County artists such as myself. Thanks to Lauren Voss for making the video and Angie Ruland for helping with the layout of the pdf (as well as the creation of this website).  I’d also like to thank Tony Cross and Erin Kray for being my advisers and proofreaders. Your help allowed me to present my best effort. I couldn’t have done it without you.

New video – Greater than gold

Uno Lady has 2 new videos. They were adapted from the fellowship video, which was originally created to tell the story of Uno Lady. Cleveland Institute of Art (CIA) has Continuing Education classes in which I was lucky enough to take with Lauren Voss as the instructor. They teach you the basics of film editing so you can create on your own.

Learn more here: http://www.cia.edu/continuing-education

Thanks again to Lauren Voss for all your hard work, editing and filming.

Here is another video, Ash Wednesday.
